Reasons why we need to be inclusive in sport

Inclusive Sports Programs provide a range of benefits to people with disability.

    • Many people with disabilities don’t get enough exercise. 3 out of 4 people with a disability (over the age of 15) do not do enough exercise. This is higher than the number of people without a disability, which is 1 out of 2 people1.
    • Being active every day helps reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers. It also helps control blood pressure, sugar levels, and cholesterol2.
    • People with disabilities may face barriers to exercise. These barriers can be due to the environment and not feeling included.
  • Inclusive sports provide social benefits and help build friendships, teamwork, and a sense of belonging.
  • Economic Benefits: More inclusive sports mean more members in clubs, leading to sustainable growth.
  • Physical activity improves mental health, reducing anxiety and depression.
